The New and the Old - Routers and Wireless Access Points.

Needed equipment:

Old faithful: One thing we use a lot of here are routers and wireless access points. Our old warhorse the Linksys WRT54G is still in use here every day, but unfortunately can't be purchased new any more.  Hence, we are always on the lookout for good used or re- manufactured ones.  There are lots of them on Ebay and some of you may have or know of groups of these units that are being replaces.  We could use up to eight of these.  We put DD-WRT firmware on them and use them until they die (which isn't often).  Note - they must be 802.11b/g compatible - not the newer 802.11a standard.

New kid on the block:  We've recently started using the Netgear ProSafe WAG102 Wireless Access Point and so far, they are really performing well for us in some pretty harsh environments.  We'd like to start phasing these in to more locations in the hospital.  We'd like to get six more of them over the next year or so.  Here's a link to the WAG102 on Amazon  - which seems to have the best price.

  1. Actually, new WRT54G routers that are flashable with dd-wrt can still be purchased new from Newegg.com. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833124190&Tpk=wrt54gl
The new model number for these flashable units is WRT54GL

  2. Derrick. Thanks for the Tip! We purchased the last two wireless access points mentioned above with the donation that your church gave us for routers. We are very thankful for your help! DF
